I know many people will say ‘oh it’s just a game’ and yes, by in large it is. However to support a football team like Preston North End is to support your heritage . It goes beyond the 11 players on the pitch and the guys on the touchline, it’s about the pride.

Preston is a very proud city sat on the banks of the River Ribble in the heart of Lancashire. It is built on centuries of belief that to be one of its inhabitants is a privilege, and  let me tell you, it is. We may not have the grandeur of London or the modernity of Manchester but what we do have is the heart, passion that is in the soul of its inhabitants.  I have experienced the ups and the downs at Deepdale, I have cried when we have lost (including today) and I have cheered when we have won. It won’t be easy to see my beloved team starting next season in League 1 but I will be just as proud and just as devoted as I have for the past 11 seasons in The Championship.

Roll on August, a new challenge awaits the mighty whites at Deepdale and I can guarantee, there will be no lacking enthusiasm both on the pitch and on the terraces.

Preston till I die.
